Pioneer's new HDTVs deliver 80% deeper contrast

Pioneer just unveiled its eighth-generation plasma HDTVs, and they look to be beauties. Featuring an unbelievable 20,000:1 contrast ratio, they sport black levels 80% deeper than previous models. There will be a whole slew of models featuring the new technology that provides such a deep picture, ranging from 720p to 1080p resolutions and sizes from 42 inches to 60 inches.
The 720p sets will range in price from $2,700 to $4,500 and will be available this June, while the full 1080p sets won't arrive 'til September and will cost from $5,000 to a hefty $7,500. They look to be absolutely hot, however, so if you're in the market for a high-end HDTV, you might not need to look any further.
