Crazy man drops $230k on a flight simulator

747 simluator

If you really, really want to fly, but the damned FAA won't let you anywhere near a cockpit due to your serious unreliability and the whole not being a licensed pilot thing, don't despair. There are other options. Just ask this crazy Aussie who deemed it financially logical to drop $230,000 on the fanciest flight simulator ever.

It's got 13 quad-core machines hooked up to his 42-inch Philips Ambilight TV, all running a rig sitting on top of a crazy hydraulic setup that moves with the action. Seriously, $230,000 is more than some flying lessons would cost? Seems to me if you have that much cash to toss around and you really want to fly, you can fly. But hey, as long as he's happy, that's what counts. Right?

That's a pic from the latest Pop Sci. That setup doesn't run anywhere near 230k. The real 230k setup looks like a military flight sim and is the size of a small house.

. But hey, as long as he's happy, that's what counts. Right?

Umm, yes! Exactly! Or would you rather he focus his investments elsewhere...like going to a school that teaches you how to post the correct picture?

"Seems to me if you have that much cash to toss around and you really want to fly, you can fly."

Then your not thinking. I for one know that no matter how much money I had I wouldn't be able to fly. That is if you don't take into account bribes and blackmail (which is usually the case if you have lots of money). But legally, it wouldn't matter how much money I had. Use your brain next time.

How about you try getting the right pictures next time?

But hey, as long as you tried, that's what counts. Right?
